Improving Traffic

One of the most interesting things about this development is that Southern Lifestyle Development will be some major improvements to the roads. The developer will be adding new southbound and northbound lanes to a part o f La. 44, turning it into a four-lane road for the portion that cuts through Conway properties. There will be a new two-way roundabout at the entrance to Conway.

La. 44 has been a failing traffic section, according to some recent studies. The Department of Transportation and Development has been studying traffic on LA. 44, and the developers are spending more than $4 million to improve the traffic. They hope that sales tax revenue from the economic development district could help to offset those costs.

Improving the Region

The economic development district that is coming to Conway will be the second district of its type in Gonzales. The first, the Tanger Economic Development District, was built in 2012, and the plans for that district run over 20 years. There’s an additional 1-cent sale tax at the shopping center in the district, and 70 percent of the revenues from that tax are put directly back into Tanger to improve the center. The remainder go to the wider city, to improve infrastructure. A similar District in Conway would offer a lot of potential to keep the development modern and to allow for continuing improvement. Conway will be a family-friendly community, that provides the city, and its citizens, with better infrastructure, better roads, and more entertainment, shopping, leisure and education options.

Affordable Housing

Conway will have a range of properties ” from custom-built homes to pre-developed single family properties, as well as apartment complexes. The goal is to offer a range of properties at differing price points, with luxurious lake-front properties and affordable single family detached homes all on offer, as well as homes in the complexes for younger professionals.
